Just Hands Across America: Part 3, South Florida

The mixed cultural heritage of the region along with the tourist factor promotes a truly metropolitan feel. All that being said, there are many unifying factors among the otherwise diverse PBCK clientele. Most of these, predictably, are South Florida stereotypes. For one, everyone seems to be in some stage of retirement, regardless of age. This is often true playing a game that attracts all sorts of hustler-types, those who love money but also have a lot of free time.

I ended up staying late because I had an excellent table and a lot of good reads. The general trend was the bad players were sober and the better players were drunk. I had to change tables a couple of times before I found a combination to my liking, but I was able to sit with a pretty consistent group of bad opponents for a few hours before I decided to take off.

At this point in the session, we were 7-handed and the action was going really slowly. I was opening up quite a bit trying to build pots to take down on the turn and had been quite successful in the 5-10 hand stretch that I was doing this. I was waiting to see what kind of player sat down on my right before deciding whether or not to move on to a different table.
